The large size of Flathead Lake keeps temperatures milder and more consistent, which is critical for helping cherries grow and thrive. Especially harsh winters or prolonged sub-zero temperatures have resulted in years where we don't have any cherries (2024 being a prime example) and can even kill cherry trees altogether.
